    Governor Polis Takes Action to Address COVID-19 Pandemic

    DENVER - Governor Jared Polis took action today to address the COVID-19 pandemic and extended an Executive Order ordering the temporary suspension of certain regulatory statutes concerning juvenile justice, regional centers, and behavioral health due to the presence of COVID-19 in Colorado.

    Gov. Polis Provides Update on COVID Response from Northern Colorado

    GREELEY - Gov. Jared Polis today provided an update on the state’s response to COVID-19 from the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) in Greeley. The Governor was joined by Betsy Markey, executive director of the Office of Economic Development and International Trade, Rick Garcia, executive director of the Department of Local Affairs, and Representative Mary Young. Gov. Polis visited Northern Colorado today to meet with COVID Relief Fund recipients, and discuss ways the State is supporting communities and their recoveries.

    Gov. Polis Grants Historic Pardons for Marijuana Convictions

    DENVER - Governor Jared Polis today signed an Executive Order granting pardons to those who have been convicted of possessing one ounce or less of marijuana. In June, Gov. Polis signed the bipartisan H.B. 20-1424, sponsored by Rep. James Coleman, Sen. Julie Gonzales and Sen. Vicki Marble, including an amendment sponsored by Sen. Gonzales, which authorizes the Governor to grant pardons to a class of defendants who were convicted of the possession of up to two ounces of marijuana. Reps. Leslie Herod and Jonathan Singer were also champions of passing this legislation. The new law went into effect this month.

    Gov. Polis Takes Action on Colorado Drought, Calls on USDA to Expedite Assistance for Farmers and Ranchers

    DENVER - As Colorado is experiencing extreme drought conditions, and farmers and ranchers are facing significant challenges as a result, Gov. Polis is taking action by expanding Phase 2 activation of the Colorado Drought Mitigation and Response Plan for the state’s remaining 24 counties and is calling on the USDA to expedite disaster aid payments to support Colorado producers.

    Gov. Polis Visits Cameron Peak Fire Incident Command Center

    DENVER - Governor Jared Polis today visited the incident command center for the Cameron Peak Fire in Northern Colorado. The Governor met with representatives from Rocky Mountain National Park, Larimer County Sheriff’s Department, Colorado Fire Prevention and Control, and others about how the fire has evolved and current efforts to contain it.

    Gov. Polis Provides Update on Colorado Response to COVID-19

    DENVER - Governor Jared Polis today provided an update on the state’s response to COVID-19 and how the pandemic is affecting Colorado students. He was joined by Commissioner of Education, Dr. Katy Anthes, Superintendent of Aurora Public Schools Rico Munn, and Dr. Chris Rogers, Director of Child and Adolescent Services at the Medical Center of Aurora and President of the Colorado Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Society.
