    Governor Polis, Colorado Springs Leaders Urge Congress to Extend Health Care Tax Credits and Protect Families from Skyrocketing Costs

    COLORADO SPRINGS - Today, Governor Jared Polis gathered small business owners, health care providers, and insurance experts in Colorado Springs to highlight the devastating consequences families and businesses will face if Congress fails to extend the Enhanced Premium Tax Credit (EPTC) as part of the upcoming federal funding bill. While the credits expire at the end of the year, insurers will have to set premiums and marketplace customers will be signing up for next year’s plans within a matter of weeks, so Congress must act now or people across the country will be stuck with skyrocketing insurance costs in 2026.

    Roll the Film! Governor Polis Celebrates the Groundbreaking of the Stanley Exhibit Center and Blumhouse Space

    ESTES PARK - Today, Governor Polis joined Estes Park Mayor Gary Hall, Jason Blum CEO of Blumhouse, John Cullen President of the Grand Heritage Hotel Group, OEDIT, and local film and economic leaders to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Stanley Event Center and Blumhouse Space. The Colorado Educational and Cultural Facilities Authority (CECFA) and the Stanley Partnership for Art Culture and Education, LLC (the Stanley Partnership) joined in the announcement of the groundbreaking of the Stanley Event Center, a $60 million arts and culture destination that is the first phase of a three year project to preserve, expand, and improve the historic Stanley Hotel campus. Housed at the iconic Stanley Hotel, the inspiration for Stephen King's The Shining, and destination to horror film lovers from across the world, The Stanley Exhibit Center and Blumhouse Space will serve as a year-round hub for film, art and community, while honoring the horror genre with 10,000+ square feet of exhibit space.

    Governor Polis and Colorado Department of Higher Education launch Colorado Free Application Days from Oct. 7-9

    DENVER – The Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) and Governor Jared Polis are pleased to announce the eighth annual Colorado Free Application Days, from Tuesday, October 7, through Thursday, October 9, 2025. For the fifth consecutive year, the campaign returns as a three-day event, where all 32 public colleges and universities in Colorado—as well as many private institutions— waive application fees, removing a financial barrier and making it easier for students to continue their education.

    Governor Polis Announces Major General Robert B. Davis as Colorado’s Next Adjutant General

    DENVER - Today, Governor Polis announced that Colorado’s next Adjutant General and Executive Director of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs will be Major General Robert Davis, who has spent most of his career in the Colorado National Guard as well as in the private sector in Colorado, and currently serves as the Deputy Director of the U.S. Army National Guard. This follows the retirement announcement of Major General Laura Clellan. General Clellan’s retirement ceremony is on October 18, 2025.

    Governor Polis Highlights Colorado Students, Educators and Mentors on the Western Slope

    EAGLE COUNTY/WESTERN SLOPE - Today, Governor Polis visited communities in Eagle and Garfield Counties on the Western Slope. Governor Polis started the day with a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month at FirstBank Fiestas, where he met with Coloradans attending the festivities. 

    “Hispanic Heritage Month is a wonderful time to celebrate the incredible contributions of Hispanic Coloradans to our state’s rich history, as well as our bright future. I was happy to be in Avon to celebrate today,” said Governor Jared Polis.
