DENVER — Today the Governor appointed Robert R. Gunning to the 20th Judicial District Court. The vacancy is created by the retirement of the Honorable Norma A. Sierra and is effective October 6, 2022.
DENVER — Today, Governor Polis signed an Executive Order to amend and extend the COVID-19 disaster declaration, which allows agencies to continue to access State and federal funding for rapid response to changes in the public health environment due to COVID-19. It also supports the health care system to remain appropriately staffed and prepared to respond to public health. The amendments remove provisions which are no longer needed for COVID-19 response.
DENVER — Today, Governor Polis appointed Katharine E. Lum and Karl L. Schock to the Colorado Court of Appeals. Ms. Lum will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Michael H. Berger. The vacancy is effective October 29, 2022. Mr. Schock will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable David J. Richman. The vacancy is effective November 5, 2022.
DENVER - Today, Governor Polis sent a letter to the Colorado Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice urging sentencing reforms to promote public safety, reduce crime, and make Colorado communities safer as a part of the Polis Administration’s ongoing work to make Colorado one of the ten safest states in the nation over the next five years.
DENVER - This Saturday, September 17, 2022, Coloradans can visit one of many free tax clinics across the state to receive help filing taxes as the Polis administration continues to provide money savings for Coloradans. Coloradans can file taxes up to October 17, 2022 to receive their tax rebate of $750 for individuals and $1,500 for joint filers, in addition to the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit for eligible Coloradans.
DENVER - In an effort to protect the air Coloradans breathe, save drivers and people money, and avoid rolling back progress made on clean air and climate change initiatives enacted by his administration, Governor Polis urged the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to reconsider their reformulated gasoline requirement for the Denver Metro/North Front Range, outlined alternatives and expressed his opposition to this proposal, and asserted pursuit of all legal strategies to avoid the requirement.
DENVER - The Polis administration continues to make significant progress on improving Colorado’s infrastructure, roads, and bridges. This afternoon, Governor Polis and Colorado Department of Transportation Executive Director Shoshana Lew, and local officials will mark the construction to replace the aging Interstate 70 bridge over Harlan Street. The project is part of a larger effort of bridge replacements and repairs in the Denver region and state through the Colorado Department of Transportation’s 10-Year Plan - the plan prioritizes delivering the most critical projects in the state.
DENVER — Today, Governor Polis and the Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) Division of Labor Standards and Statistics (DLSS) announced an increase to Colorado’s minimum wage, which is currently $12.56 per hour for 2022, and will increase to $13.65 per hour in 2023, an 8.68% increase. Annually adjusting the minimum wage for inflation is a voter-approved mandate in the Colorado Constitution. The new minimum wage will take effect on January 1, 2023.
DENVER — Today, Governor Polis and the Colorado Department of Transportation announced Colorado as the recipient of a $100,000,000 Nationally Significant Multimodal Freight and Highway Projects grant program (INFRA) award. This federal program offers competitive grant opportunities for projects that improve safety, increase efficiency, and offer an opportunity to generate economic growth. The Funding will go towards I-70’s Floyd Hill Project which will expand reliability and safety and improve aspects of Colorado’s I-70’s Mountain Corridor.
