New Jobs for Colorado, Strengthening Colorado's Agricultural Workforce, U.S. Department of Agriculture Announces New Service Center in Fort Collins

Thursday, July 24, 2025

FORT COLLINS - Today, Governor Polis applauded the U.S. Department of Agriculture's expansion plans in Colorado and commitment and recognition of Colorado as a leader in agricultural excellence and an economic driver in agriculture.

“It is no surprise that Fort Collins has been chosen as a new service center by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Colorado is a national leader in agriculture, supporting rural communities and creating jobs in ag. I applaud Secretary Rollins' work to further recognize Colorado as a key part of the agriculture community and strengthen agricultural partnerships between state and federal partners and hope there is significant follow through on this plan,” said Governor Polis.

“Especially with the loss of federal jobs in other areas, we welcome the new Department of Agriculture jobs being moved to Colorado,” continued Governor Polis.

Colorado continues to urge the Trump administration to end their tariff policies, which hurt the ag community and economy.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced its first phase plan for reorganization and creating service centers across the country. Fort Collins was listed as one of the five new hubs, along with Raleigh, North Carolina, Kansas City, Missouri, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Colorado has a strong heritage in farming and ranching, as well as in natural and organic foods, craft beverages, and global restaurant franchises. Annually, the state of Colorado generates more than $5 billion in economic output, exporting our products to more than 100 countries worldwide. The food and agriculture industry employs, on average, 115,000 Coloradans.
