Tuesday, July 1, 2025

DENVER - Today, Governor Polis celebrated Colorado's work to expand housing options that Colordans can afford and break down barriers to housing. Effective July 1, 2025, HB24-1304 - Minimum Parking Requirements, helps eliminate unnecessary parking requirements that increase costs and have prohibited more housing to be built in its place and HB24-1152 - Accessory Dwelling Units, that gives Coloradans the freedom to build accessory dwelling units on their property. Additionally, HB24-1313- Housing in Transit Oriented Communities, before June 30, 2025 will have collected the first steps and goals for potential Transit Oriented Communities in Colorado.

“In Colorado, we are committed to creating more housing by expanding freedoms to build Accessory Dwelling Units, getting rid of unnecessary parking requirements, and increasing housing near jobs and transit centers. The laws going into effect today are yet another building block toward expanding housing options that fit every Coloradan’s budget,” said Governor Polis.

Governor Polis also celebrated new laws to increase public safety in Colorado communities, promote responsible gun ownership, and protect victims of sexual misconduct.

“Effectively passing common-sense public safety legislation is a step in the right direction to help Colorado become one of the top ten safest states. Ensuring that firearm owners have the proper uniform training is crucial to keeping our communities safe and firearms out of the hands of criminals,” said Governor Polis.
