Lt. Governor Primavera, Major General Clellan, Americorps CEO Commemorate First in the Nation AmeriCorps Service Agreement

DENVER — Today, Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera and Major General Laura Clellan of the Colorado National Guard commemorated their renewed Memorandum of Understanding during a signing ceremony. The memorandum creates joint service pathways for Colorado AmeriCorps and National Guard members, expanding on the initial agreement established in April 2023.

“By expanding on the initial partnership between Serve Colorado and Colorado National Guard programs, we are able to increase the impact that individuals in service have on their communities, while providing more opportunities for professional development,” said Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera. “AmeriCorps and Colorado National Guard members are service-minded, collaborative, and strive to make a difference in local communities across our state every day. I’m looking forward to continued opportunities for partnership, which will strengthen AmeriCorps and National Guard service here in Colorado.”

"The Colorado National Guard is committed to continually investing in the most valuable resource we have, our people,” said Major General Laura Clellan. “This program offers our service members opportunities in the public sector, but it also exposes public service minded individuals in AmeriCorps to opportunities in the National Guard. It's a win, win for members of both the Colorado National Guard and AmeriCorps, and the people that ultimately benefit are the citizens of Colorado."

Serve Colorado and the Colorado National Guard will continue to work together to share opportunities to serve in both the National Guard and AmeriCorps to incoming, current, and exiting servicemembers and AmeriCorps members. Serving with AmeriCorps can provide National Guard servicemembers with additional professional development and educational opportunities in a wide range of fields including education, climate, and health. Service with the National Guard is an opportunity for AmeriCorps members to expand their state and  national service.
