Lt. Governor Primavera Highlights Mobile Public Health Clinic for Seasonal Vaccines, Serves Thanksgiving Meals at Denver Rescue Mission

DENVER - Today, Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera visited Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's (CDPHE) Mobile Public Health Clinic before spending the late afternoon serving meals at the Denver Rescue Mission’s annual Thanksgiving Banquet. Both events underscore the Polis–Primavera Administration’s commitment to expanding access to health care and supporting Colorado families during the holiday season.

The Lt. Governor toured the Mobile Public Health Clinic, a statewide initiative designed to bring essential health services directly to communities, as it visited New Legacy Charter School in Aurora. The mobile clinic provides preventive screenings, immunizations, health education, and resource navigation to meet Coloradans where they are and reduce barriers to care for working families, students, older adults, and underserved neighborhoods. In 2024, the Mobile Health Clinic served over 19,000 vaccines and visited over 460 community based organizations, schools, religious centers, shelters, and workplaces.

“All Coloradans should have access to preventative health care. This mobile clinic is a powerful example of how we can bring services directly to communities, help people stay healthy, and make sure no one is left behind. As we head into flu season, now is also a great time for Coloradans to get their flu shot — and their COVID vaccine — to protect themselves and their loved ones during the holiday season,” said Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera.

Later this afternoon, the Lt. Governor will join volunteers and staff at the Denver Rescue Mission’s Thanksgiving Banquet which serves dinner to individuals and families participating in transitional housing and rehabilitation programs at The Crossing campus. The event will serve about 175 individuals and is part of the Mission’s long-standing tradition of providing meals, shelter, and support for people experiencing homelessness or economic hardship.

“Serving Thanksgiving meals was a moving reminder of the compassion that defines our state,” said Lt. Governor Primavera. “The Denver Rescue Mission creates a welcoming place for people who need support, and I’m honored to stand alongside the volunteers and staff who show up every day with dignity and kindness. I encourage anyone who can lend a hand to do so this year by volunteering, donating, or supporting a local organization that strengthens your community.”

The Denver Rescue Mission has served the community for more than 132 years, offering emergency services, meals, long-term support programs, and community outreach. The annual Thanksgiving banquet provides families and individuals with a warm holiday meal and a sense of community during a season when all should feel included and celebrated.
