Governor Polis also visited Talbott Farms, a local Palisade peach farm and the largest peach producer in the state, to pick peaches.
“Palisade Peaches are a delicacy and way of life here in Mesa County. For over 100 years, the Talbott family has worked this ranch growing peaches and grapes, and producing wines and ciders. Family farms are an important economic driver on the western slope and critical provider of fresh fruits and vegetables for Colorado families," said Governor Polis.

Finally, Governor Polis also participated in the 80th Anniversary Celebration of the Palisade Insectary, a Colorado Department of Agriculture facility that has helped Western Slope Farmers combat pests.
“For 80 years the Palisade Insectary has been a major partner for Western Slope farmers to combat pests that threaten crops. Innovative research scientists and biologists here at the insectary have strengthened the Mesa County and Colorado way of life, supported local farmers who put delicious food on our tables, and helped build sustainable agriculture for generations to come. I am thrilled to join in the celebration of this landmark anniversary and look forward to seeing the great work and partnership to come from the insectary's next 80 years,” said Governor Polis.
