Consumer Protection is our Mission.
The Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board’s mission is “Public Protection Through Licensure and Enforcement”. It regulates aerial tramways, surface lifts, tows, and conveyors for recreational purposes in Colorado. The Board establishes design, operation, and maintenance standards; reviews requests for variance from the rules; and investigates accidents related to the operation of tramways. The Board also conducts regular inspections of the installations that it regulates. The Board’s focus is on ski-related equipment, but also licenses other types of tramways. The Board does not regulate elevators, escalators, amusement park rides, zip lines, or the bus and taxi systems.
The February 27, 2014 Board meeting will be webcast. Click here at 9:00 a.m. the day of the meeting and you will be able to watch the meeting live. Be advised the webcast will have advertisements during the meeting. Please note the Board does not endorse these ads.
The Division is now called the Division of Professions and Occupations, effective August 8, 2012. To help our consumers and licensees more readily locate and utilize our services, the legislature passed House Bill 12-1055 during the 2012 legislative session. Please note, the Division of Professions and Occupations will still be housed within the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). Services the Division currently offers will remain the same.
Legislation passed during the Legislative Session impacts the Division of Professions and Occupations. Please review the program's Laws, Rules and Policies web page to learn of any changes due to legislation.
