Consumer Protection is our Mission.

The Colorado Podiatry Board was instituted as part of the Podiatric Practice Act in order to regulate the practice of podiatry in Colorado. DORA’s mission is to protect the public and the Podiatry Board accomplishes this task by ensuring that licensed professionals are acting in accordance with the standards of care as outlined in the Podiatric Practice Act.

Licensure is mandatory to practice podiatric medicine or perform podiatric surgery in Colorado or to treat Colorado patients.

The Podiatry Board is a Type I Board, which means that it is policy autonomous and made up of professional and public members (four podiatrists and one public member). The decisions made by the Podiatry Board are not subject to administrative review. Also, the Podiatric Board does not have authority to arbitrate or adjudicate fee disputes.

We Changed Our Name!

The Division is now called the Division of Professions and Occupations, effective August 8, 2012. To help our consumers and licensees more readily locate and utilize our services, the legislature passed House Bill 12-1055 during the 2012 legislative session. Please note, the Division of Professions and Occupations will still be housed within the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). Services the Division currently offers will remain the same.

Carisoprodol (or Soma) is now a Schedule IV Controlled Substance.

Carisoprodol, or brand product name Soma, became a Schedule IV Controlled Substance on January 11, 2012. Read implications for prescribers and pharmacies here.
 

2012 Legislation

Legislation passed during the Legislative Session impacts the Division of Professions and Occupations. The Division is developing an implementation process at this time. Please check back in the near future to learn about any changes to rules, requirements and important deadlines.
