IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Effective June 1, 2015, any Private Investigator practicing in the state of Colorado must obtain a license from the Office of Private Investigator Licensure. In order to ensure your license will be available by June 1, 2015, your complete application, including your CBI background check information and Jurisprudence Examination Passing Results Report (you must affix your handwritten signature and date on this Results Report) must be received in our office by the close of business May 1, 2015.
Those wishing to apply for a Private Investigator (PI) license must do so using the online system. Please use the link below to be directed to Online Services. Upon your first visit, you must register your own account as an individual with the division. You will NOT be able to complete an online application for PI licensure using an account for a business.
A checklist of required items is posted below. Please review the checklist before you begin your online application to ensure you are prepared to submit all required information and documentation to the division.
