The following information is provided as a convenience to those applying to qualify for licensure as a Licensed Landscape Architect in the State of Colorado by examination or endorsement (also commonly referred to as comity or reciprocity). These are questions that are regularly asked of staff and are intended to be helpful but are not all-inclusive. All applicants are required to follow all application instructions and to comply with the directions found in the application forms.

Question: Can I use an electronic signature to sign plans? Answer: Yes, pursuant to Board Rule 2.2 Definitions – Signature, Electronic Signatures are permissible as long as they are a digital authentication process attached to or logically associated with an electronic document. Please refer to the rule for specific requirements to be in compliance. You can view the Landscape Architect Statutes, Rules and Policies. Question: Can landscape architects serve as the principal design professional on multi-disciplined projects? Answer: Yes. Licensed architects, landscape architects and professional engineers may serve as the principal design professional, as long as they are providing services in conformance with their competence and the requirements of the statutes. Question: May a Colorado architect, professional engineer, and/or professional land surveyor prepare, sign, and seal landscape architectural construction documents? Answer: Yes, when the architect, engineer, and/or land surveyor possesses the professional and technical qualifications to do so, and the individual is practicing their profession according to its respective definition as found in Title 12, Article 25, C.R.S. Reference § 12-45-118(1)(a-c), 12-25-302(6), 102(10)(a), and 202(6)(a), C.R.S. |

Question: If I can easily request my transcripts from my university online, do I still need to send in the Transcript Request Form? Question: There is no box to check if I would like to apply to the state to take the Landscape Architect Registration Examination (L.A.R.E.)? What do I do? Question: I do not meet CLARB’s requirements to take the L.A.R.E. and feel that I am qualified. What are my options? Question: Can we supply references from architects clients or other consultants and project owners? Question: Will I get a wall certificate from the Colorado Board? |
