Colorado State Board of Landscape Architects

Consumer Protection is Our Mission.
The State Board of Landscape Architects regulates and licenses landscape architects. The Board does not regulate or require registration of landscape architect firms or landscape designers, installers, or contractors. Board activities include examining and licensing landscape architects, investigating complaints about landscape architects and disciplining those who violate the law and/or the Board’s Rules. This Board is made up of five members: three from the profession and two public members. It works closely with national organizations such as CLARB, the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards. The mission of the Board is to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of the people of Colorado by preventing the improper design of public domain landscape infrastructure by unauthorized, unqualified, and incompetent persons.

License Renewal Window Open
The renewal period is currently open for your Landscape Architect license, which will expire on 1/31/13. To renew your Landscape Architect license, click on the "Professionals" tab on the left side of this page, then "Renewal" and "Landscape Architects." For information on the expiration cycle, which is changing from one year to two years, please see information in the 2012 Newsletter (below) or on the Landscape Architects Renewal 2013 page.

The "Local Officials Guide to Landscape Architecture" has information about the use of titles, exemptions to the laws, sealing and signing of professional work including electronic seals and signatures, what defines professionals' responsibilities, and frequently asked questions. It also includes contact information for Board staff, how to file a complaint, how to verify if a license is active and how to look up a Board action against a license. Building code regulations and professional licensing laws are intended to work together to protect the public against unsafe structures, incompetent practitioners, and unlicensed individuals. These guides are a tool to assist you, the local official, in your role as part of the system of checks and balances in our shared responsibility for protecting the health, safety, property, and welfare of the public. |

We Changed Our Name!
The Division is now called the Division of Professions and Occupations, effective August 8, 2012. To help our consumers and licensees more readily locate and utilize our services, the legislature passed House Bill 12-1055 during the 2012 legislative session. Please note, the Division of Professions and Occupations will still be housed within the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). Services the Division currently offers will remain the same.
Recent Legislation
Legislation passed during the Legislative Session impacts the Division of Professions and Occupations. The Division is developing an implementation process at this time. Please check back in the near future to learn about any changes to rules, requirements and important deadlines.
