The Division's Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Unit provides neutral mediators who assist parties in attempting to resolve their dispute through 'mediation'. The process known as 'conciliation' occurs at the end of the processing of a Charge in the event that probable cause is determined.
After a Charge is filed, the parties may agree to 'mediate' the Charge; in that process the parties are provided with an opportunity to resolve a claim through mediation prior to the assignment of the Charge by the Civil Rights Divsion to its Investigators. The Division ADR Unit provides neutral mediators to assist those parties who mutually agree to attempt to resolve their differences through mediation.
Often mediation can provide a monetary and/or non-monetary resolution that is mutually benefcial to the parties and which saves both time and resources.
To request or obtain more information regarding mediation if you are a party or representative of a party, contact the ADR Unit to request or obtain more information regarding mediation at the Division's main number: 303.894.2997.
