Board Information

The board consists of seven appointed members: one journeyman plumber, one master plumber, two engaged in the construction of residential or commercial buildings as plumbing contractors, one engaged in the construction of residential or commercial buildings as a general contractor, one member or employee of a local government agency conducting plumbing inspections, and one appointed from the public at large. A representative of the department of public health and environment shall serve as an ex officio non-voting member Further information concerning Board member duties is available in Sections 12-58-103 and 12-58-104 of the Colorado Revised Statutes.

As outlined in the Colorado Revised Statutes for Plumbers, section 12-58-104, the Board is responsible to:

• License and regulate plumbers
• Register and regulate plumbing contractors and apprentice plumbers
• Oversee the administration of the plumbing licensing examination
• Investigate complaints against plumbers, registered plumbing apprentices, and plumbing contractors
• Conduct disciplinary hearings and sanctions against plumbers who violate the plumbing law or board rules.
• Issue disciplinary actions against plumbers who have violated the plumbing law or the board rules.
• Renewing plumbing licenses
• Adopting and revising plumbing rules
• Conduct plumbing inspections throughout the state where the local authorities have requested that service
