NOTICE TO APPLICANTS:

We have recently been notified by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that they are experiencing a significant backlog in requests for fingerprints and background checks. This backlog is hampering their ability to process requests in what would normally be considered a “timely manner”. CBI is working diligently to address the issue and will be implementing a new system this spring that will speed the process.

We encourage applicants to apply for their background check as soon as possible once they intend to apply for licensure. The applicant should submit their application soon after their background check becomes available from CBI – keeping in mind the information from CBI is only good for a 90 day period.

DORA is in communication with CBI and we will work to process applications as quickly as possible once we have all the necessary information.

License Expiration Grace Period for New Applicants. All new applicants who are issued a registration within 120 days of the upcoming renewal expiration date will be issued a registration with the subsequent expiration date. For example, registrations issued between October 1, 2012, and January 31, 2013, will reflect a registration expiration date of January 31, 2015. Registrations issued prior to October 1, 2012, will reflect an expiration date of January 31, 2013, and must renew in the upcoming renewal period.

License Renewal Information. All Massage Therapist registrations expire on January 31 of odd-numbered years and must be renewed to continue practicing.
