Certified Nurse Aides (CNA)


  • Original License by Examination: You are applying to take an examination in order to qualify for licensure in Colorado. All applicants for license by examination must apply through the Pearson Vue website.
  • Original License by Endorsement:  You hold an active license in another state and wish to apply for licensure in Colorado. This does not apply to the Medication Aide Authority.
  • Renew: You currently hold a Colorado license and are in a renewal period.
  • Reinstate: Your Colorado license has expired and you wish to reinstate the license.

NOTICE: Application for Licensure by Endorsement is Online ONLY!

Those wishing to obtain an original CNA license must now apply using the online system.  Please use the link below to be directed to Online Services.  Upon your first visit, you must register an account with the Division.

A checklist of required items is posted below.  Please review the checklist before you begin your online application to ensure you are prepared to submit all required information and documentation to the Division.  Failing to provide all information will result in delays.

License Expiration Grace Period for New Applicants. All new applicants who are issued a license within 120 days of the upcoming renewal expiration date will be issued a license with the subsequent expiration date. For example, licenses issued between October 1, 2013 and January 31, 2014 will reflect a license expiration date of January 31, 2016. Licenses issued prior to October 1, 2013 will reflect an expiration date of January 31, 2014 and must renew in the upcoming renewal period.

License Renewal Information. All Nurse Aide certifications expire on January 31 of even-numbered years and must be renewed to continue practicing.
