Encourages the department of regulatory agencies and the department of public health and environment to work together in a timely manner to accomplish the goals of collecting and analyzing health care professional data in order to help meet the health care professional needs for all of Colorado.
Renames the Division of Registrations as the Division of Professions and Occupations and requires periodic review of the function of the division.
Requires the Department of Public Health and Environment to provide infant eye prophylaxis.
Provides that spouses of military personnel are not required to obtain a Colorado license, certification, or registration during the first year of Colorado residence, so long as the spouse is authorized to practice in another state, and meets certain requirements.
Allows for an advanced practice nurse who was granted prescriptive authority prior to July 1, 2010, to develop an articulated plan for purposes of retaining prescriptive authority.
Continues the statutory authorization of the Committee on Anticompetitive Conduct until September 1, 2013.
Concerns Professional Review Committees. Implements the Sunset Review Recommendations of the Department of Regulatory Agencies and makes an appropriation.
Regulates speech-language pathologies by the Department of Regulatory Agencies and makes an appropriation.
Concerns continuation of the State Board of Pharmacy and implements recommendations contained in the Sunset Review and report regarding the board. Recodifies the laws regulating pharmacists, the practice of pharmacy and the manufacture, distribution and dispensing of prescription drugs and controlled substances.
Prohibits an individual from practicing as an anesthesiologist assistant without a license issued by the Colorado medical board, effective July 1, 2013.
Under the former law, a pharmacy was prohibited from dispensing a prescribed schedule II controlled substance absent a written prescription from the practitioner prescribing the substance. The bill allows a pharmacy to dispense those Schedule II prescriptions if the practitioner electronically creates and transmits the prescription drug order in conformance with federal law.
Concerns protections for at-risk adults.
Allows a correctional facility to return unused medications and other medical supplies to the pharmacist within a correctional facility or a prescription drug outlet so that the medication can be redispensed.
