The programs within the Department of Regulatory Agencies, Division of Professions and Occupations, are legally authorized to take action relating to individuals’ and businesses' licensure status. Disciplinary action may be taken only where an individual or business has violated the statutes and rules governing them.

The Office of Investigations is a centralized unit that serves as an independent fact finder to investigate appropriate cases. The Office does not represent the complainant, the licensing board or a licensee, registrant or certificate holder.

The Division of Professions and Occupations provides consumer protection through its regulation of 345,000 licensees within more than 50 professions, occupations, and entities in the State of Colorado. The Division’s boards and programs have been created by the Colorado Legislature to ensure a minimal level of competence of licensees and to protect the public.
