The Division of Insurance is charged by statute with supervising the business of insurance in Colorado to ensure that it is conducted in accordance with the laws of this state and in such a manner as to protect policyholders and the general public. 

This oversight includes but is not limited to the various types of insurance companies, fraternal benefit societies, title insurance companies, and healthcare companies.  In addition, the Division regulates non-traditional entities such as governmental self-insurance pools, captives, Limited Service Licensed Provider Networks and preneed contract sellers.  Plans for self insurance of motor vehicles and financial responsibility requirements for health care institutions and providers are also reviewed.
