Follow the instructions below for the initial conservation easement holder certification process. Don’t hesitate to contact the Division of Real Estate (Division) if you have questions.
Separate applications are required for non-profit trusts and governmental entities. Submit the Organizational Profile, Documents 01-07, the Conservation Easement Project List and the nonrefundable fee. Descriptions of Documents 01-07 may be found within the Organizational Profile.

Nationally accredited organizations do not need to submit Documents 01-06.
The Division will contact the applicant in writing once the above materials have been received. The Division will notify the applicant of which conservation easements (if any) the Division has selected for review. The applicant will be required to submit project documentation for these easements as part of the application.
Submit the Application, Documents A1-A22 and the Conservation Easement Project Documentation. Descriptions of Documents A1-A22 may be found in the Application.
The Division will contact the applicant in writing once the application materials have been received. The Division will notify the applicant of any missing information and/or documentation.
Submit any missing information and/or documentation to the Division.
Once all of the application materials have been received, the Division will review the entire application and generate a report. The Division will present the report to the Conservation Easement Oversight Commission (Commission) for their recommendation.
Once the entire application has been reviewed by the Division and the Commission, the Division will notify the applicant in writing of the certification decision.
