DORA FAQ's

The Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) is the state’s regulatory department. DORA’s mission is consumer protection and it is dedicated to preserving the integrity of the marketplace and is committed to promoting a fair and competitive business environment in Colorado.

The agencies of DORA are: Banking, Civil Rights, Consumer Counsel, Financial Services, Insurance, Professions and Occupations, Public Utilities Commission, Real Estate, and Securities.

Complaints may be filed with the Division responsible for regulating the profession, occupation or business you wish to file the complaint against. Please use our list of regulated professions, occupations and businesses to find the appropriate Division to file your complaint with.

Colorado Business Express is a quick and easy way to find information on starting a business in Colorado.

Please visit https://www.colorado.gov/cbe

You will need to register the business name and/or trademark with the Secretary of State's Office and indicate whether the business is a sole proprietorship, LLC, or corporation.
