SB13-277 Prior Authorization Work Group

About SB 13-277 & the Work Group

The Colorado General Assembly passed Senate Bill 13-277 in 2013 with the intent to establish a standardized prior authorization process for prescription drugs.  In the declaration of the bill, the Legislature clearly states its expectation that a standardized process will simplify the administrative process and improve patient care by allowing providers to devote less time to administrative duties and more time to patient care.

As mandated in the legislation, the Department of Regulatory Agencies, including the Division of Professions and Occupations and the Division of Insurance, formed the working group by June 15, 2013.  All meetings are open to the public and participation in the process is welcome.  Each meeting will include the opportunity for public comment.
